Top 6 Asia’s tallest buildings
Asia is known around the world for many things, but in the past few years it started to stand out with its skyscrapers. Inside the top 10 world’s tallest buildings, Asia has a monopoly, with 9 buildings. The intruder in this world’s top 10 is in the 4th position, New York’s brand new One World Trade Center – opened in January2014. Anyhow, in this article we will pay a tribute to Asia’s architectural efforts and its top 5 tallest buildings. Opened in 2010, Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world, and no other construction is planned to threaten this privileged position – at least not in the near future. Your visit in Dubai cannot end without checking the view from the top of world’s tallest building – 828m and 163 floors. For 92 euro you can have the world at your feet, but you would have to reserve the ticket in advance. Once you are there, you can rent an audio device and enjoy an audio
guided tour of this modern engineering and architectural marvel. Your experience will be enriched with one of the 57 fast speed elevators available, traveling with 10m/sec – having the world’s longest travel distance from lowest to highest stop. The second place is held by a building that is due to be completed in 2015.
This 632m and 121 story skyscraper is China’s tallest building. It has 106 elevators and the rental space will be used for offices, high end retail shops, recreation zone and five star hotels. Here you can try out the fastest single-deck elevators in the world, with a traveling speed of 18metres/second. Initially the second tallest building in the world, the Makkah Clock Royal tower, also known as Abraj Al Bait was recently overtaken by the Shanghai Tower and dropped one
place. The clock hotel tower is 601 meters, the tallest construction in Saudi Arabia, and is part of an impressive commercial complex that includes a 5 star hotel and a 20 storey shopping mall with 4.000 stores from famous international brands. Moreover, the complex is equipped to accommodate up to 100.000

tourists. At the top of the tower you will find the largest 4 clocks in the world, visible from 25 km away!Inaugurated in 2004, for the next 6 years, Taipei 101 had the privilege of holding the record for being the tallest tower in the world – until Burj Khalifa took its place. As its name says, the tower has 101 floors and has one of the fastest elevators in the world, traveling with 60 km/h. On the top floor you will find a Private VIP Club and an opened air observation point – the Outdoor Observatory Deck from the 91st floor. The construction of this tower started in 1997 and lasted almost 9 years. Right from the beginning, the plan was to build the tallest building, but unfortunately, the construction process lasted too long and Taipei 101 took the 1st place at that time. Despite this record was taken, the Shanghai World Financial Center still holds the record of having the highest
outdoor observation deck in the world (floor 100) – 6 floors of museums, exhibition and observation areas, from floor 94 through floor 100. Despite the fact that is 6 meters shorter than the tower from the 5th place, this building has 17 extra storeys – a total of 118 levels. The International Commerce Centre, Hong Kong, holds several world records, among which are: the world’s highest swimming pool and the highest hotel in the world. The 5 star hotel, The Ritz-Carlton, occupies the floors 102 to 118, having on the top floor the Ozone swimming pool and a gym. Imagine how it is like to start your day with a morning swim, having a panoramic view over Hong Kong. The journey to the top of this tower will not take you more that 50 seconds, using the express elevators.
