Jaipur: After meat ban in Mumbai, the BJP government in Rajasthan who with an aim to saffronise education has released a circular to celebrate the birth anniversary of Jan Sangh ideologue Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay on Sep 24 which is likely to coincide with Eid-ul-Zuha.

Eid-ul-Zuha is the biggest festival for Muslims and cancellation of a national holiday would prevent thousands of Muslims from celebrating it.

The move has irked Muslim groups who say the dates were terming it a violation of human rights of Muslim employees.

“This is a clear violation of human rights of Muslim employees. Eid-ul-Zuha is the biggest festival for Muslims and an official event that day would deny people from celebrating it,” says Salim Engineer, national secretary, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, as per reports published in IndianExpress.

“They are saying it is voluntary but how can that be when there are clear orders to not grant leave. We will meet the chief secretary about this and also file a writ petition in the High Court,” he said.

As per reports, the Rajasthan government directs principals of all government as well as private colleges to not grant leave to any staff member on Sep 24 and to be present in a blood donation campaigns in all government and private colleges on Sep 25.
